Letter to the College of Engineering Student Body

Dear College of Engineering students,

We hope you are looking forward to the return of the in-person career fair for the first time since 2019! After a long wait, it feels great to be back. In this letter, we will announce the official details of the 2022 Fall Engineering Career Fair and let you know how to best prepare for the event.

What to expect from the Career Fair

The fair will take place in person throughout several North campus buildings on Monday, September 12 and Tuesday, September 13 from 10 AM to 5 PM EDT. Approximately 350 companies are expected to attend, with each company attending only one of the two days. You can find a list of each company by day here. Expect long lines and plan ahead; long wait times are normal, especially for larger and more popular companies, so come prepared with a strategy for which companies you’ll prioritize visiting.

We will use Engineering Careers, by 12twenty to help you keep track of the fair and stay up to date with the latest information digitally. You can view details on how to sign up on the website here.

Please locate the companies you are interested in ahead of time; the company list for each day is available in Engineering Careers, by 12twenty. You will have access to a table map the day of the fair.

What to wear to the Career Fair

You should dress up! Refer to our full student guide or our social media pages for more information about best practices. You should dress professionally and aim to impress recruiters.

Eligibility for the Career Fair

Any University of Michigan - Ann Arbor student in the College of Engineering is welcome to attend the fair, in addition to all LSA computer science and data science students. This includes all first-year engineering students, regardless of major declaration status! Even if you do not have a clear idea of what job or internship opportunities you’d like to pursue, it is still strongly encouraged for all students to attend to gain experience talking to recruiters.

Be aware that recruiters may have certain major or academic level preferences, so check the information available on the app beforehand so you avoid wasting time on companies that are unlikely to provide what you’re looking for.

Receptions for the Career Fair

Receptions are back for the 2022 fair! This is a great opportunity to connect with recruiters and corporate representatives in a more relaxed setting the night before the fair and network on a personal level. For this reason, resumes are not allowed. Receptions will be held with the companies attending the next day on Sunday 9/11 and Monday 9/12 from 6-8 PM in the EECS atrium. Food will be served!
